This is a list of what to expect during a home inspection. Before any real work begins, you should have all your pipes checked and your electrical system checked. Depending on the age of your home, you might also need your gutters replaced.
There are some things that you might not have thought about, but they will help protect your home. The roof needs to be completely stripped and cleaned out before putting it back on. Roofing tar can get into cracks and causes water to seep into the concrete below the surface. When tar comes in contact with water, it can turn into a solid rock that clogs up the plumbing and causes a sewer overflow.
Fixtures are another thing that needs to be looked at. It will take a good home inspector to find a problem with your heating and cooling systems. Most major appliances have a part number listed on them that can tell you if there is a problem with the motor or the system itself.
Electricals are one of the most common problems. A good home inspector will be able to look at the wiring inside your home and figure out if something is wrong. You can’t just go into your home and take off the window blinds. One point on a home inspection report that you don’t want to overlook is the conditions of your home’s foundation.
You should never be able to reach the ground without a foot or two of concrete in between your house and the ground. If you have just recently built your home, you might be shocked at how much concrete is in between your home and the ground. That includes anything that you put up on your property such as driveways and landscaping.
You might not realize it, but a whole lot of your home’s foundation is actually below the level of the water table. You might even think that is a good thing, because it means that it is so stable that it can withstand a few years of growing rainstorms without worry. The truth is that a lot of the foundations of homes that are built today are actually vulnerable to damage from termites and other insects that can move throughout the wood.
If you are in a place where the home inspector comes to look at your home, make sure that you take them to every room. Sometimes, they might only need to check around a corner or an area that has a lot of people living. Take them through your entire home and they will see how many different things are in your home.
